Gaines Remodel

  • Kitchen dreams come to life in this stunning remodel of a 1970s split-level home in SW Portland’s Bridlemile neighborhood. In collaboration with Bright Designlab, the team reimagined the kitchen’s layout and its relationship to adjacent spaces, creating a more open, modern floorplan that seamlessly connects to the dining area, living spaces, and outdoors.

Through careful programming and multiple schematic iterations, the design achieves a balance between openness and functionality—expanding sightlines without sacrificing essential storage. New tile floors, custom cabinetry with white oak trim, refinished hardwood floors, a new slider door, and a cozy gas fireplace insert all contribute to a warm, cohesive environment ideal for cooking, entertaining, and everyday living.

Material selections were thoughtfully curated to introduce color, texture, and contrast. A custom terracotta tile floor pattern shifts from brick to herringbone, subtly defining the transition between the family room and kitchen, while fully integrated appliances streamline the space and complete this refined, modern design.
