BRYAN SCHATZ
SHOP CARPENTER II
Before starting a career in the trades, Bryan worked as a journalist, until the long hours at a computer began to take their toll. A chance opportunity to help a friend restore a ramshackle cabin in the woods sparked a new passion. After spending several weekends working on the project, the two decided to leave their desk jobs behind and pursue carpentry full-time.
Known for having a wide-ranging skill set, Brian takes pride in being able to handle a bit of everything: from woodworking and cabinetry to plumbing and light electrical. Attention to detail is a hallmark of his work, driven by an almost obsessive commitment to getting the small things just right. What Brian enjoys most is seeing a project come to life—watching drawings transform into something tangible, functional, and beautiful.
Outside of work, Brian enjoys biking, hiking, and adventuring with his son. He also has a love for travel, though it’s a bit more limited these days. Brian once rode a single-speed bike 450 miles down the California coast (a decision his knee still remembers).
